The New “F” Word

You’re driving down the 405 freeway (or whatever insane highway is near your house) and a sleek, black BMW with tinted windows zooms in behind you, rides your bumper, finds an opening to dart around you, jumps in front of you, and finally zig-zags away like the proverbial bat out of hell. Your conditioned reaction might be the traditional one-finger salute and a resounding F-bomb from your lips bouncing off the dash of your car.

Road rage is only one symptom of a world that runs on the “F-You” philosophy of anger and revenge.  (Like George Carlin, I’ve always found it strange that the true meaning of the F-word is an act that should be equated with bliss, union, and love. It just shows how much we have fallen from grace when the sexual act becomes synonymous with violence, rape, and degradation.) Many religions, cults, and special interest groups draw people by feeding on feelings of fear and revenge. They create gods in their image that must exact vengeance. How many holy wars have we got going right now? How many states are implementing crazy stand-your-ground gun laws? The world appears to be one big F-YOU extravaganza.

forgiveMay I suggest a new F-word? How about FORGIVENESS? The idea isn’t new. Jesus of Nazareth proclaimed the revolutionary idea over 2,000 years ago in the Middle East. Give up “an eye for an eye” and embrace “forgive seventy times seven.”   Today California is in anguish over the vengeful attack of a disturbed young man who fed on misogynistic websites until he drove into the night on a murdering rampage. He was a product of our revenge mentality.

Forgiveness isn’t for sissies. It goes against the grain, against the indoctrination of thousands of years from religious leaders, politicians, and Mom and Dad. We glorify vengeance movies. From John Wayne to Marvel Super Heroes, we exalt the good guy who blows away the bad guy. And so the cycle continues.

But, a few have found the power of Forgiveness and changed their world. The violence of Belfast came to an end when two determined women, Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan,  led peace marches in their war-torn country. They won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976.

Leymah GboweeDecades later, on another continent, another mother became fed up with the cycle of violence inflicted on her country. Leymeh Gbowee of Liberia had a vision of peace and forgiveness. Women surged forward and began a new philosophy for living. Watch the excellent Pray the Devil Back to Hell documentary about the amazing courage and unity of the Liberian women. Ms. Gbowee  won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 for her role in ending the Liberian civil wars.

On an individual level, unforgiveness destroys personal relationships, good health, and inner peace. How many people have you known who nurse grudges and become mean, sad people? Forgiveness is the path to personal peace. Of course, the first person to forgive is YOURSELF. My work as a Reiki healer has shown me how often guilt is an underlying factor in illness. Guilt and unforgiveness make people sick.

The path to forgiveness may be difficult to find. While Christ proclaimed it, many churches don’t seem to understand or embrace it. A Course in Miracles is built on it, but it’s one thing to decide intellectually to forgive and another to emotionally do it. We humans feel entitled to our “righteous indignation.” The first step is the desire to forgive; the next is an honest request to the Divine to show you the way. The answer will be revealed. Seek and ye shall find; knock and the door will be opened is still sound advice.

forgaveYou’ve heard it said, Laughter is the best medicine, but as a healer, I’m more inclined to believe Forgiveness is the best medicine.

The next time you feel a bout of road rage coming on, try this: instead of a crude gesture and the F-bomb, give a little wave and say “Forgive you!” I’ll bet your day goes much better.

Oh, if only the world could adopt a new F-Word–Forgive.

Blessings to you–

Dana Taylor

Hawaiian Cemetery’s Unique Energy Vortex

ChineseHanging out in Hawaii has definite advantages – tropical breezes, fish tacos, beautiful birds, interesting hiking opportunities. Yesterday I set off to visit one of my favorite spots– the enchanting Monoa Chinese Cemetery.  As I trudged up the hillside surrounded by headstones etched in Chinese characters, weathered with age, the place seemed to be welcoming me back.

photo-11The history of the MCC fascinates me. A black marble tablet etched in gold letters tells the story of a Chinese worker named Lum Ching, a Feng Shui Master.  He used “magic” instruments to measure the magnetic energy of the earth. Around 1850 he discovered the “chi” of the Monoa Valley was captured and heightened in a certain area. He declared, “We are at an extraordinary spot. It is the pulse of the watchful dragon of the valley. People will come from across the seas and gather here to pay homage. Birds, too, will come to sing and roost. It is a haven suitable for the living as well as the dead. The Chinese people must buy this area and keep it as sacred ground.”

The Lin Yee Chung Association was formed to purchase land. By 1896, 27 acres had been acquired. A perpetual charter was granted by the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1889.

photo-10

Today the graves  are looked over by a massive banyan tree planted 100 years ago by a relative of Lum Ching to honor his final resting place at the top of the hill. While the cemetery is quiet during the day, it is often busy at night as tourists are led to the tree on a haunted tour of Honolulu. A few years ago my Supernal friend, Paula, took the tour and had an amazing experience inside the banyan tree. Patterns of lightning-like energy was picked up by several cameras. She heard voices in the tree that evening.

Here are a couple of the fascinating pictures caught of Paula as she prayed standing in the heart of the banyan tree.

Paula 2 Paula1

I didn’t hear anything but the singing of birds on my trip yesterday, but the feeling of peace and love was palpable. Beneath the canopy of the banyan tree, I gazed to the horizon, past the Honolulu skyline, clear to the aqua sea. Events of my life played in my mind; loved ones here and on the otherside painted through memory like a water-colored mural by Monet.

photo-12Using the Lord’s Prayer to open my chakras, I felt the expansion of my energy centers and allowed the special frequency of the MCC “chi” to swirl into my auric field. Cleansing, healing, empowering.

Though not as well known as Sedona and Stonehenge, the Monoa Chinese Cemetery is another unique energy vortex where earth opens a door to heaven.

Break the Habit of Fear

th[8]I’ve been keeping a journal of my mental trips to the Akashic Records. So often now when I read an entry I think, I don’t remember that. Good thing I’m writing the information down! Much of it dissolves like a dream. The entry for September 15, 2013 seems like good advice for just about everyone on the planet, so I thought I would share.

QUESTION to the Guardians of the Akashic Records (for Dana Taylor): What pattern has been established that needs to be cleared or changed?

ANSWER: Fear is a basic condition of humans that is a strong influence on all your reactions and plans. Fear-based theology, fear about health, wealth, war, invasion, personal safety, fear for children, fear of the future.

Come to recognize how much fear has influenced your life and then come to see it as a bad habit to be broken. Break the ties and bondages of fear. Be liberated from all the fear that generally rules mankind. Seek the higher energies and allow them to dissolve the lower energies of fear. From that will come creativity, freedom, and joy. Higher entities will be attracted to you and aid in your creative endeavors.

Messages from angels in the Bible say, “Be not afraid. Fear not.” These messages are not simply for the moment, but a permanent exultation to recognize fear as a crippling illusion. Shatter the illusion of fear and step into the light and love of the Christ Spirit.

*******

When that came through, it took me by surprise. I haven’t thought of myself as particularly fearful, but I had to admit the truth of it. Fear–or caution some might call it–is a tool for human survival. Don’t talk to strangers, take your pills, buy lots of insurance, don’t go by the river where the gators live. There’s some wisdom in fear. But when it paralyzes and stifles, it’s time to kick the habit.

What fears are holding you back from the joys of life? Think about it.

Fearlessly Yours,

Dana Taylor

Grace in Grief: Six Months After My Husband’s Passing

051It’s been six months since my husband was suddenly gone in a car accident last February. Only six months, yet, a lifetime. The surreal first month, caught in a flurry of details and rituals. The memorial service panorama of faces across a thirty-six year marriage passing before me in one afternoon…. Carrying a box of ashes to a droughty cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Leaving them on the desk of a friendly, Okie-speak girl for later burial in his parents’ plot.

I kept waiting to see my phone ringing showing “husband” and I’d tell him all about it.

The weeks back home in California melted into tasks accomplished–sending death certificates, a new trust drawn up, closets cleaned, home repairs. Long, quiet nights.

Emotion held at bay until a witching hour visit last month. Supposedly between 4 and 5 o’clock in the morning our spirit selves can make contact with the other side. There have been similar “dreams” where I’m lying in my bed, asleep and yet aware. I can see and hear a normally unseen dimension around me. One night I heard a grand party going on and a man stood next to my bed playing a saxophone. As I awakened to complete consciousness, he disappeared; the music faded. Last January my dear friend, Jeanie, appeared a week after she’d passed over. Her grandson sat on the foot of my bed as she spoke lovingly to me to say goodbye.

The visitation/dream from my husband, David, came five months after he got confused driving in road construction along I-35, hit a cone, spun into a concrete wall and was then broadsided by a van.

As I lay in my bed, dawn was an hour away, when I was awakened by the sound of running water. David stood next to the window, his back to me, wearing only his boxers, which was always his sleeping attire. He seemed to be washing his hands, another night-time ritual. My first thought was, “There’s no sink there.” (Our Oklahoma bedroom had a sink outside the shower. In my California home, the bathroom is down the hall.)

He looked at me over his shoulder and smiled. I got the impression he could do special things in this spirit dimension, even conjure up a sink. He stepped to the bed and slipped between the covers with me. After months of solitary sleeping, the intense joy of feeling my husband next me was beyond description. Our arms joined like, two halves of whole fitting together.

Image 13His face was bathed in a golden glow. He looked 35 again. The handsome guy I married. “You look good,” I said.

“So do you,” he said. He pulled me closer. “I was so stupid. I crawled away. I wrecked the car.”

An image played in my mind of his spirit body seeing the aftermath of his accident, the chaos and destruction. He watched helplessly, irritated with himself for making an irrevocable error of judgment.

Until that moment, I’d pictured him going to the light, surrounded by angels walking into a pink sunset. A Hollywood ending. Maybe that came later.

In our bed, I felt the regret and the longing and the last goodbye. He stretched out over me. So wonderful, so right, so fleeting. My arms gathered across his back and held on as long as it would last. I knew it wasn’t real and yet it was utterly real.

Don’t go…don’t go….

As the rays of sunlight rose above the horizon, he dissolved in my arms. I came to full consciousness, flat on my back, tears trailing into my hair. I lay there two more hours, flummoxed, gob-smocked.

A true period of grief began. Sadness, weeping spells. Also, came the grace. A prophetic friend living hundreds of miles away sent me a “word from the Lord.” My pain was not unnoticed…. A wonderful healer gave me a full body massage and therapy session… I took a class in sound therapy and received a whole array of healing frequencies from bells, singing bowls, tuning forks and Reiki…. My Supernal friend, Sue, administered a healing energy treatment to heal regret.

After thirty-six years, there were regrets. I was focusing on the lost opportunities and missed moments. The healers helped me turn from regret, move toward gratitude and remember the happy times. I needed to be grateful for the family we created–first, two fabulous daughters and now two wonderful grand kids and the joyful anticipation of the next one next in February. Yes, a year from David’s departure, we will be welcoming our younger daughter’s first child into our lives.

It seems only appropriate to end this with a passage from the Bible, the book that held my husband’s constant fascination and guided his life.

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; thou hast loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness Psalms 30:11

Opening Chakras with The Lord’s Prayer

Update: November 2023 My YouTube meditation Opening Chakras With the Lord’s Prayer has been opened over 19,000 times. Because of increasingly intrusive ads, I’m making my meditations available -ad-free here at Supernal Living. You can find it in the Opening Chakras Meditation page in the main menu.

Dana by Dana Taylor

What’s the deal with chakras? For some people they are as tangible a part of their body as a hand or foot. For others they are a strange Eastern concept, as fanciful as fairies, vaguely having something to do with yoga. For many years I was in the second category, but along the way, as I came to understand more about energy and health, I set off in search of my chakras.

the_LORDs_prayer_clipart.162200811_std[1]

There are many helpful books on the subjects, but I’ll give you Cliff-notes version here. “Chakra” comes from the Sanskrit meaning “wheel, ” used in yoga to describe energy centers of the human body. Seven main chakras run from the groin to the top of the head. Colors, vibrational frequencies, and organ systems are associated with them in Eastern medicine. Balanced, clean chakras are necessary for optimal health. The chakras also serve as communication paths for connection to the Divine.

Many meditation techniques teach visualization methods for finding the chakras—focus on each center and send a ray of colored light up the body. One sleepless night a couple of decades ago, I didn’t have anything better to do than look for my chakras. I remember lying in bed, focusing on the base of my body (root chakra), picturing red color filling a spinning disc. Darned, if I didn’t actually feel an awareness.  So I kept moving up. Here are the basic chakra centers and corresponding colors:

chakras[1]

Sensing energy centers is part of my work as a Reiki therapist. One method to open chakras that is more Western-friendly, is using the Lord’s Prayer. Dana Williams’ The Lord’s Prayer, The Seven Chakras, The Twelve Life Paths covers a lot of territory, including astrology. Her segment on The Lord’s Prayer caught my attention. The technique is also mentioned in The Healing Spot by Jan Phillip Holland, Ph.D., M.Ht.

Lately, I’ve been opening my prayer/mediation times in this manner, using the Lord’s Prayer from the top chakra down to get the energy channels moving and connected to Spirit. Sit comfortably, eyes closed. To better feel the energy fields, lift one hand above your head about six inches, point your fingers toward the crown of your head and slowing circle. You may feel a slight light-headedness, perhaps a tingling sensation. Move your hand to the corresponding area of the body as you travel to each chakra center, continuing a gentle circular motion.

Our Father who art in heavenwhite light above the head. Imagine a God finger of light entering the crown of your head, beaming a high frequency of healthy energy

Hallowed be thy namepurple light beaming into the forehead. Circle your hand a few inches in front of your forehead. Picture radiant amethyst light entering the forehead, stimulating the pineal gland and warming the brain, eyes, sinuses, and skull. This is where divine connection can enter the mind with heavenly thoughts. Quiet the mind and experience only the present moment.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be doneblue light to the throat. Circle your hand before your throat, picturing an exquisite blue shaft of light beaming into the neck and mouth. This chakra represents our power of speech. We call things into being. Claim health and personal empowerment. Imagine the thyroid gland basking in the blue light, absorbing healing energies to regulate all the systems of the body.

On earth as it is in heavengreen light opens the heart. Circle the open palm over the heart, imagine emerald green light sending divine healing and love to the heart chakra. The heart connects with the Creator and loved ones with very real etheric bonds. Emotional wounds can impair the ability to open the heart chakra and lead to a sick physical heart. Imagine a green laser of light opening a healing portal in the chest. See healing light cleansing and strengthening the heart and lungs.

Give us this day our daily breadyellow light feeds the stomach. Circle the palm in front of the stomach, imagine a sun yellow light sending spiritual nourishment. It’s here we feel hungry for physical food, but we can also feel an emotional ache in the pit of our stomachs. Healing yellow light feeds both the physical and emotional needs of the stomach and digestive organs.

Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.orange light below the belly button. Circle an orange light, soothing the deepest regions of the gut and bowels. This is the area we store guilt and grievances. Unforgiveness of self and others creates deep-seated life-long illness. Lift old grudges and regrets to the orange light. Let them go. Ask for divine help to forgive and forget. Feel the healing frequency of orange light restore intestines and the vital organs of the digestive system.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evilred light to the sexual centers. Red is a highly stimulating light frequency. The area of sexual energy can generate the highest ecstatic connection for human love or the greatest depths of violence and fear. Use the red light to heal memories of sexual abuse or shame. Ask for a transformation of red light to symbolize love and creativity. It is the place of new birth. Radiate healing red light to regenerate reproductive organs.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory foreverrun the energy into the earth down for grounding. Now imagine all the colored lights and energy swirling around and through the body. See white light entering the crown, down the body, and traveling through the feet into the ground, connecting heaven and earth.

AmenAnd so it is. Feel the whole body light and filled with Source energy.

What’s Your Erroneous Belief?

Part Three of a Series on the Akashic Records

I decided to give The Akashic Records reading a whirl. With chakras open, fully grounded, feeling that familiar buzz of connection, I went the next step and followed the directions from Ernesto Ortiz’ book The Akashic Records: Sacred Wisdom for Transformation. I repeated the designated prayer, exactly as instructed. Then I posed the suggested first question:

Question: What erroneous belief operates in my life that causes me to experience the world in the way I do?

Truthfully, I wasn’t expecting anything to happen. But I lifted pen to paper and soon this answer flowed through my mind.

Answer: “Life is a struggle.” Life does not have to be a struggle. Obstacles are illusions you’ve built to confirm your belief. You’ve gotten satisfaction when you’ve overcome these “obstacles.”

Erase that notion and simply attract the good things and people into your life. No struggles. Surrender to spiritual guidance and all will be easy.

Wow, that certainly gave me pause. I realized the truth is I have embraced, “Life is a struggle.” There have been times I’ve envisioned myself running a track, leaping over hurdles. Life seemed like one hurdle after another.

Case in point, I have lately been stressing and “struggling” over purchasing a new car. In my price range, good cars are hard to find. I’ve spend too many nights pouring through Craigslist and reading Edmunds.com ratings. The couple of likely cars I found were quickly snatched up by other buyers. By the middle of last week, I was burned out and thinking I might just keep my 23 year old car until the transmission completely conked out.

Then, I had a spiritual wake-up call. The Supernal Friends and I got together for a prayer session. Encouraging words flowed that the “right fit” was being sought for me by spiritual helpers. I envisioned the perfect car being delivered to my home and Old Faithful being driven away.

Saturday evening on Craigslist I saw the loveliest Maxima located about half an hour from my house. First thing Sunday morning I called and woke up Omar, the owner. We arranged to meet at a shopping center near his home. My best pal, Sue, and I made fast friends with Omar and by 2pm the deal was sealed. What’s more, Omar decided he wanted to see Old Faithful. Consequently, just as I had envisioned, he delivered the darling Maxima and took the elderly, much-in-need of repairs Old Faithful out of my life.

Easy. No struggle. Definitely an object lesson from the powers that be.

Seeking guidance from the Akashic Records is another step in spiritual development towards leading what Jesus called the “Abundant Life.”
