I was absolutely engaged, from the first page to the last. I could not put the book down. This isn’t just a memoir, or a book about healing. It is one woman’s spiritual journey at discovering her own healing power through Christ. She explains how it is available for all of us to tap in to. I appreciate her down to Earth approach and how she shares her doubts and thinks at times she might be “crazy”, yet she lets her heart guide her to amazing enlightenment. The book has the meat and potatoes of science and references to other scientific books if you care to research, sprinkled with the seasoning of personal life stories. It is an enjoyable, yet informative read. Personally, I felt like she was giving words and explanations to beliefs I already held to be true but could not explain. Each chapter was a beautiful revelation, such as the fact that at our DNA level we are luminary beings as we are made of bio-photons which actually emit light energy. I felt safe in the knowledge that she is just a girl from California, seasoned in the Southern Midwest who has a Christian background. My fear of tapping into things that weren’t of God have always held me back. Without being preachy, the author gives honor to God and Jesus for her gift of healing power. I am thankful that she answered the call and had the courage to share this with us all.
Hanging out in Hawaii has definite advantages – tropical breezes, fish tacos, beautiful birds, interesting hiking opportunities. Yesterday I set off to visit one of my favorite spots– the enchanting Monoa Chinese Cemetery. As I trudged up the hillside surrounded by headstones etched in Chinese characters,weathered with age, the place seemed to be welcoming me back.
The history of the MCC fascinates me. A black marble tablet etched in gold letters tells the story of a Chinese worker named Lum Ching, a Feng Shui Master. He used “magic” instruments to measure the magnetic energy of the earth. Around 1850 he discovered the “chi” of the Monoa Valley was captured and heightened in a certain area. He declared, “We are at an extraordinary spot. It is the pulse of the watchful dragon of the valley. People will come from across the seas and gather here to pay homage. Birds, too, will come to sing and roost. It is a haven suitable for the living as well as the dead. The Chinese people must buy this area and keep it as sacred ground.”
The Lin Yee Chung Association was formed to purchase land. By 1896, 27 acres had been acquired. A perpetual charter was granted by the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1889.
Today the graves are looked over by a massive banyan tree planted 100 years ago by a relative of Lum Ching to honor his final resting place at the top of the hill. While the cemetery is quiet during the day, it is often busy at night as tourists are led to the tree on a haunted tour of Honolulu. A few years ago my Supernal friend, Paula, took the tour and had an amazing experience inside the banyan tree. Patterns of lightning-like energy was picked up by several cameras. She heard voices in the tree that evening.

I didn’t hear anything but the singing of birds on my trip yesterday, but the feeling of peace and love was palpable. Beneath the canopy of the banyan tree, I gazed to the horizon, past the Honolulu skyline, clear to the aqua sea. Events of my life played in my mind; loved ones here and on the otherside painted through memory like a water-colored mural by Monet.
Using the Lord’s Prayer to open my chakras, I felt the expansion of my energy centers and allowed the special frequency of the MCC “chi” to swirl into my auric field. Cleansing, healing, empowering.
Though not as well known as Sedona and Stonehenge, the Monoa Chinese Cemetery is another unique energy vortex where earth opens a door to heaven.

Have you got the low miseries with back aches? If popping pain meds isn’t doing the trick, try boosting your natural healing abilities by thinking energetically. Your body is designed to heal. Here are some actions you can take to move toward wellness.
Epsom Salt Baths—The magnesium in the salts is anti-inflammatory. The hot water helps release tension and stimulates the natural flow of body fluids to aid in healing.
Young Living Essential Oils— Valor is sometimes called a “chiropractor in a bottle.” The blend of spruce, rosewood, blue tansy, and frankincense aids in the energy alignment of the body. The aroma is also very soothing. Layer peppermint on top for what I call “a massage in a bottle.” The stimulating effect of peppermint oil really kicks healing energy into action.
Healing Energy— Healing energy frequencies are flowing around us, all the time. As a Reiki practitioner, I’ve learned how to consistently tap into them. But, anyone can get into the flow with some practice. Sit quietly and imagine a light beam from the heavens shining into the head and running through the body. Our energy centers will open to the higher energies, like absorbing unseen, but very real rays of the sun.
Enzyme Rich Foods—Cooked foods are dead foods. Life begets life. Most of us don’t have nearly the enzyme activity needed from our food to provide the energy for optimum health. Healing requires extra energy. So, bump up your enzymatic activity by eating more raw, live food and whole food supplements. I recommend juicing and a quality supplement like Green Vibrance. Give your body the building blocks of nutrition it needs to heal itself.
Examine your Emotions–often back problems have a relationship to “carrying troubles.” Be honest with yourself about the conflicts in your life. There may be a connection between that aching back and emotional pain, anger, or unforgiveness. If you can’t clear those emotional blockages on your own, seek a therapist who will help you work through them.
Be pro-active about your health and enjoy all that life has to offer.
When I tell people I’m an energy worker, generally they have no idea what I’m talking about. That’s because very few people are aware of their “subtle body.” Chakras and the auric field are real to me because I can FEEL them. Sometimes I can SEE them. All sorts of interesting information may pop into my mind through contacting a client’s energy field.
Ignorance is NOT bliss when it comes to energy fields. Awareness of your subtle body can be a major step toward healing. Learning to protect yourself from negative energy can really enhance your life. So how do you tune into your aura? PRACTICE! Turn off the electronic devices and turn on your personal energy. Here is a basic exercise to build awareness of the your magnetic field.
Create An Energy Ball
Sit comfortably. Lift arms about waist level, palms facing each other, a few inches apart. Pulse hands slightly. Now, close your eyes and imagine a beam of light coming from the heavens, running down your arms, and shooting out of your palms. Picture it in motion, feel the electricity coursing through your limbs. In a few minutes you should be able to sense an “energy ball” form between your hands. It may feel warm. There will be a push, like magnets turned as they repel each. You are activating your magnetic field. The “energy ball” can get bigger and bigger as you become more adept at focusing your energy.
Experiencing an Ah-Ha Moment discovering your personal energy can be the first step to a whole new understanding of the human experience. Taking charge of your energy can be the beginning of taking charge of your life!

What’s the deal with chakras? For some people they are as tangible a part of their body as a hand or foot. For others they are a strange Eastern concept, as fanciful as fairies, vaguely having something to do with yoga. For many years I was in the second category, but along the way, as I came to understand more about energy and health, I set off in search of my chakras.
There are many helpful books on the subjects, but I’ll give you Cliff-notes version here. “Chakra” comes from the Sanskrit meaning “wheel, ” used in yoga to describe energy centers of the human body. Seven main chakras run from the groin to the top of the head. Colors, vibrational frequencies, and organ systems are associated with them in Eastern medicine. Balanced, clean chakras are necessary for optimal health. The chakras also serve as communication paths for connection to the Divine.
Many meditation techniques teach visualization methods for finding the chakras—focus on each center and send a ray of colored light up the body. One sleepless night a couple of decades ago, I didn’t have anything better to do than look for my chakras. I remember lying in bed, focusing on the base of my body (root chakra), picturing red color filling a spinning disc. Darned, if I didn’t actually feel an awareness. So I kept moving up. Here are the basic chakra centers and corresponding colors:
Sensing energy centers is part of my work as a Reiki therapist. One method to open chakras that is more Western-friendly, is using the Lord’s Prayer. Dana Williams’The Lord’s Prayer, The Seven Chakras, The Twelve Life Pathscovers a lot of territory, including astrology. Her segment on The Lord’s Prayer caught my attention. The technique is also mentioned inThe Healing Spotby Jan Phillip Holland, Ph.D., M.Ht.
Lately, I’ve been opening my prayer/mediation times in this manner, using the Lord’s Prayer from the top chakra down to get the energy channels moving and connected to Spirit. Sit comfortably, eyes closed. To better feel the energy fields, lift one hand above your head about six inches, point your fingers toward the crown of your head and slowing circle. You may feel a slight light-headedness, perhaps a tingling sensation. Move your hand to the corresponding area of the body as you travel to each chakra center, continuing a gentle circular motion.
Our Father who art in heaven—white light above the head. Imagine a God finger of light entering the crown of your head, beaming a high frequency of healthy energy
Hallowed be thy name—purple light beaming into the forehead. Circle your hand a few inches in front of your forehead. Picture radiant amethyst light entering the forehead, stimulating the pineal gland and warming the brain, eyes, sinuses, and skull. This is where divine connection can enter the mind with heavenly thoughts. Quiet the mind and experience only the present moment.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done—blue light to the throat. Circle your hand before your throat, picturing an exquisite blue shaft of light beaming into the neck and mouth. This chakra represents our power of speech. We call things into being. Claim health and personal empowerment. Imagine the thyroid gland basking in the blue light, absorbing healing energies to regulate all the systems of the body.
On earth as it is in heaven—green light opens the heart. Circle the open palm over the heart, imagine emerald green light sending divine healing and love to the heart chakra. The heart connects with the Creator and loved ones with very real etheric bonds. Emotional wounds can impair the ability to open the heart chakra and lead to a sick physical heart. Imagine a green laser of light opening a healing portal in the chest. See healing light cleansing and strengthening the heart and lungs.
Give us this day our daily bread—yellow light feeds the stomach. Circle the palm in front of the stomach, imagine a sun yellow light sending spiritual nourishment. It’s here we feel hungry for physical food, but we can also feel an emotional ache in the pit of our stomachs. Healing yellow light feeds both the physical and emotional needs of the stomach and digestive organs.
Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.—orange light below the belly button. Circle an orange light, soothing the deepest regions of the gut and bowels. This is the area we store guilt and grievances. Unforgiveness of self and others creates deep-seated life-long illness. Lift old grudges and regrets to the orange light. Let them go. Ask for divine help to forgive and forget. Feel the healing frequency of orange light restore intestines and the vital organs of the digestive system.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil—red light to the sexual centers. Red is a highly stimulating light frequency. The area of sexual energy can generate the highest ecstatic connection for human love or the greatest depths of violence and fear. Use the red light to heal memories of sexual abuse or shame. Ask for a transformation of red light to symbolize love and creativity. It is the place of new birth. Radiate healing red light to regenerate reproductive organs.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever—run the energy into the earth down for grounding. Now imagine all the colored lights and energy swirling around and through the body. See white light entering the crown, down the body, and traveling through the feet into the ground, connecting heaven and earth.
Amen—And so it is. Feel the whole body light and filled with Source energy.

There are the sayings, “like attracts like” and “birds of a feather flock together.” I’ve found in my Reiki practice and the responses to Ever-Flowing Streams: Christ, Reiki, Reincarnation and Me that I am attracting people grounded in a Christian tradition, but willing to think outside the box. Much of Ever-Flowing Streams chronicles my pursuit of knowledge about energy healing within the Christian culture. Can a Christian comfortably visit or become a Reiki therapist? Let’s get some perspective on the issue.
Reiki is not a religion. People of many religious affiliations or no religious affiliations are participating in the energy healing movement. Its roots come from Japan and an Eastern world view, but it is utilizing universal energies—like electricity.
Are there “magic” symbols? The symbols in Reiki have specific meanings and many are Japanese words or phrases. They are used as meditation focus points to enable the practitioner to concentrate a healing intention, such as sending distance healing. The idea of “magic” is primarily a Western concept that arises from Occult activity. Reiki symbols are more akin to mediating and quieting the mind toward a certain goal. Reiki symbols are part of Sacred Geometry, carrying healing energetic frequencies.
Where does the healing power come from? The same question was asked of Jesus Christ when he walked the earth and healed the multitudes. Some accused him of being in league with the Devil. He knew how to use the universal healing energies in a very efficient manner. I began studying energy healing within the church and simply kept learning. The Reiki energies come from another dimension, unseen to the human eye, but quite real. As humans evolve and become multi-sensory, access to these energies and the intelligence behind them will become more common.
Personally, I consider myself a follower of Christ and the expansion into energy work is a further manifestation of living out my spiritual path. However, I don’t press my religious beliefs on clients. Energy work encompasses transmitting healing vibrations into the subtle (energetic ) body of the client. The practitioner may also pick up information, such as sensing that an organ is stressed, like a low thyroid. The energies emitted are utilized by the client to the best of their ability to assimilate it. None of this activity is tied to a religion.
