Dawn Paul, “A Healer of Souls”

Enjoy this excerpt from this new release from British Healer, Dawn Paul. Her vision at Machu Picchu is the beginning of her great spiritual adventure…

How it all began….by Dawn Paul, Master Shaman and Spiritual Teacher

A Healer of Souls: A helping hand on your journey through lifeI had been drawn to Machu Picchu for years but for some reason, had never managed to get there. Machu Picchu is cited as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, and is often referred to as ‘The Lost City of the Inca.’ A mountain rising to just under eight thousand feet above sea level, covered in 15th Century Inca ruins, it surely is a sight to behold, and breathtaking in more ways than one.

As so often happens when one is on a spiritual path, as soon as I admitted defeat and stopped trying to find my path, it found me. For during my visit to Machu Picchu, quite unexpectedly, I received a powerful and mystical vision which was to change my life forever. I had climbed to the highest point at Machu Picchu to see the Intihuatana stone – also known as the “hitching post of the Sun.” I was feeling frustrated as I had only caught the last two minutes of a talk about the stone, and the crowd was being shown out of the area down some steep and crumbling steps. I was the last to leave the enclosure, and as I cautiously made my way down the ancient steps, something red caught my eye.

Startled, I looked up and saw that I was surrounded by about twenty Inca, all staring intently at me, red cloaks blowing in the strong valley winds, with feathered helmets on their heads and what appeared to be spears in their hands. Having previously enjoyed a trip to Rome that same year, and seen locals dressed up as gladiators and centurions posing for photos outside the Coliseum, I assumed that the Inca before me were a similar sort of tourist attraction, which to be honest I was a little upset about. But as I was able to focus my attention more fully onto them, I noticed that they were fading in and out, as if they were being tuned out on an old fashioned television.

I stopped dead in my tracks right there on the steps. I looked around to see if anyone else was close by, and amazingly, given the 400 visitors a day who visit Machu Picchu, no one was around. I could just make out a friend sitting against a rock on the distance but that was it. Fearing my knees would fail me, I wobbled my way to the bottom of the stairs.

An Inca was stood a short distance away from me, but he was dressed differently to the rest. Apart from a slit in his helmet exposing his deep black eyes, he was completely covered in golden armour. And he was immensely powerful, so powerful that I could barely stand in front of him. I kept subtly pinching myself to make sure I was not dreaming, but there was no doubt he was there, right in front of me and I was wide awake. I will admit it, I was pretty terrified, but something in me knew that I must maintain eye contact with him. The charge from his eyes was so strong that when his gaze met mine, a blue ball of electricity formed equidistant between us which crackled and sparked in mid-air. Tears flowed from my eyes and my knees shook, but I maintained my stance at what I hoped was a respectful distance.

I had no idea what I was supposed to do – or who he was- so I just stood there, bravely fronting up to him, holding my own. Suddenly his armoured arm shot out and he pointed directly at me. His voice boomed, “You must follow this path – and we will help you!”

He then pointed to another Inca on the plateau below us, and indicated I was to go to him. Again, this Inca was powerful but dressed more traditionally. I stood in front of him, again having no idea what to do and was pretty alarmed when he made a grab for my throat! He wrestled something out of me, threw it into the wind and then indicated I could leave down some uneven steps down the side of the mountain. A sharp stone dug into the underside of my foot and when I looked down at it I saw that instead of my sturdy walking boots, I had on a pair of black leather Inca boots wrapped around my feet. This stunned me and I realised it was a sign I had been here before. The winds rushed up from the river valley below and plastered me against the side of the mountain. I could barely catch my breath. But then suddenly the wind died down and I heard a voice saying I could go now, and that was it! I was completely dazed, but it was a truly amazing experience and I will never forget it as long as I live.

At around the age of three she realised three things, one, that she was hugely fascinated by people’s minds, two, that she was not from here, and three, that she had a lot of questions! Dawn struggled to find her place in the world, feeling hugely drawn to all things spiritual, but ending up working in financial services for 20 years despite the fact that she felt constantly pushed to do something – but she did not know what that was. Eventually, after years of searching she felt that she had no option but to give up. Exhausted from her search and the constant challenges she had faced in her life, she found herself at Machu Picchu, Peru. There, she received a mystical vision and was told to follow the path of the shaman, and then everything became much clearer! Waving goodbye to her six figure salary, Dawn stepped onto the path of the shaman, where she had always belonged. She now works worldwide as a shamanic healer and spiritual teacher, and her book, A Healer of SoulsA helping hand on your journey through life, is her gift to the community, without which a shaman cannot exist.

Rising out of the Well of Depression

On Saturday my good pal, Pam, and I sat at The Coffee Bean solving the world’s problems. We got around to discussing depression, a subject with which we both share up-close-and-personal experience. Looking back, we could see we came by it naturally. We remember sad family members. My Dad’s side of the family went beyond sad to mental illness. Even today, my Aunt Alice is a well-known crazy lady of Whittier, CA, regularly getting thrown out of local establishments. She can go from sweetness to rage in the blink of an eye. As a child, I perfected a mean imitation of chain-smoking Alice sucking on a cigarette, smiling saying, “Hi honey” and then going “off.” Just part a regular family gathering.

I was an early crier. My parents wondered what they had done to have a child who would hide under a table and  just weep for a while. Then my mood would shift and I’d be over it. The ups and downs were my “normal.” You learn to cope. You wake up in the morning and take your emotional temperature. Am I happy? Am I sad? How do I get from sad to happy?

I used to have “bottom of the well days.” I imagined myself down in a damp hole, trying to climb up slimy walls toward the light. Indeed, I was “low.” What to do? Grit your teeth and wrestle it? (Pam referred to fighting the Black Dog. ) Try to give yourself a hearty pep talk? Or worse, think of people less fortunate than you. I can tell you THAT only makes you sink lower.

My studies over the past thirty years have led me to see the relationship between energy frequency and depression. We all have measurable energy frequencies. A healthy human is generally between 62-78 Hz. I discovered that if would consciously raise my physical frequency level, I would raise my mood. The greatest break-through came for me in 2005 when I had my first energy healing treatment. The lifting of my entire auric field to a higher vibration was like grabbing a rope to be lifted out of the well. Here are some of the frequency elevating tools I have discovered:

  • Reiki or other energy healing techniques.  Multiple sessions will ultimately raise your frequency set point to a healthy level. Of course, you’ll also probably work through a lot of other issues in the process.
  • Meditation and prayer. Learn to open yourself to the ever-flowing energy streams. You will encounter Spirit, develop intuition, and become permanently plugged into a higher energy
  • Eat live food. Energy begets energy. Fruits and vegetables will feed your body and raise your emotions. Drink lots of water. Caffeine, alcohol, and drugs will keep you on a seesaw of ups and downs.
  • Exercise. Only 30% of Americans exercise 30 minutes 5 days a week, but use of antidepressant drugs has risen 400% in the last twenty years. This is crazy! Go for a walk and dump the drugs.
  • Get back to nature. The energies of the earth, water, and sky are extremely healing. Digging in the dirt to plant a flower is one of the most energy-raising activities I know. We have a city park in my town with a “lake,” by California standards anyway. I can walk around it in about seven minutes. In the years I was taking care of my stroke-affected Dad, that walk around the water was my saving grace. No matter how low I felt, the water, wind and those crazy geese always lifted my spirits.
  • Music. The vibrations of music literally rock your body. Find the tunes that lift you and keep them coming.
  • Essential oils. These are the life blood of plants and have measurable frequencies of 52-320 Hz. Young Living Essential Oil sells a blend named Joy, which includes rose oil, the highest frequency oil. And doesn’t smelling a rose always lift your spirits? It only makes sense that applying something to your body with high energy will elevate your energy field.
  • Sufficient sleep. Last, but certainly not least. Getting enough sleep is probably the best mood elevator known to man. Make getting a good night’s sleep a top priority. As the Good Book says, “Weeping may tarry in the night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

I am happy to report that I have climbed completely out of the Well of Depression. Oh, I’m not skipping around, singing Mary Poppin tunes, but I am functioning at a much higher level.

Most days, praise God, I am happy.

Blessings–

Dana Taylor

Buddy’s Kitty Miracle

I really thought Buddy was a goner. My ten-year-old tuxedo cat walked in the house three nights ago and looked radically different. His walk wobbled and his coat looked oddly spikey. His eyes telegraphed pain.

“Buddy, what’s wrong?” I asked. Of course, he didn’t answer, but he didn’t eat any dinner either, so I knew something was amiss. I  thought “stones,” knowing cats can develop painful blockages in their kidneys or bladders.

I immediately picked up the phone and alerted the Supernal Friends, “Pray for Buddy!”

If you’ve read Ever-Flowing Streams (and why haven’t you?), you’ll know I believe in pro-active prayer and I have a lovely team of friends that join me in this pursuit.  The following afternoon I received a call from Helen, the gifted healer featured in “Streams.”

She said, “I’m afraid Buddy has stones in the urinary tract.”

Helen worked several years in an emergency vet hospital and has a lot of experience with sick animals. She warned me that his condition is very painful. She told me I could tell if his bladder was obstructed by feeling for a hard ball near his belly. Worst case scenario, the bladder would burst and cause an excruciating death. Together we agreed that given his age and the expense of IV’s and catheter treatment, my kindest solution was probably to put Buddy down.

Sitting in my backyard, with the sun shining and the birdies singing, I contemplated a sad trip in the morning to a vet. So, I did what a girl naturally does, I decided to get a haircut. If I was going to kill my cat, at least I would look good.

When I returned from the beauty shop, neatly trimmed, Buddy was lying on the warm concrete beside the pool. I went outside and petted him. He softly purred, but didn’t have much energy to move. I poked around his belly and found a hard lump, somewhat smaller than a golf ball. Poor Buddy’s bladder was completely blocked.

So, then I did the only thing I knew to do–I prayed. I laid my hands on Buddy’s flanks, opened the energy centers in my head and hands and prayed from the heart, “Please help my cat.” I allowed the spirit language I received long ago to flow, along with the healing energy and loving intention to bring Buddy relief. Sometimes prayer power simply kicks in and goes beyond human explanation. This was one of those moments. My prayer language expanded, chanting and flowing, as the buzz of the healing frequencies vibrated my hands. Both Buddy and I jumped a few times with the spurts of energy pouring through us. Sitting on the warm concrete, with the sky turning sunset colors, Buddy and I shared a heavenly moment.  The experience lasted about ten minutes.  The phrases subsided; the energy decreased.

I patted him on the head and returned to the house. An hour later, I looked out the living room window and saw Buddy still lying where I’d left him. I did a double take–a river of fluid appear to be flowing from his hind quarters. Had his bladder burst? Opening the screen door, I approached him with trepidation. His body was intact; he was alive and leaking urine like a Betsy Wetsy doll. Good grief! Who knew a cat could hold so much fluid? I massaged his belly, causing even more flow.

“Wow, Buddy. I think you are a kitty miracle.” He then stood up and wobbled over to his water bowl and drank for the first time in two days.

That evening, he continued to be an incontinent cat. He clawed on the screen door to come into the house. “Buddy,” I said. “I can’t have you dripping cat pee all over my house. I’m sorry.” Then he gave my that sad-green eyed look, ala, Puss in Boots. I relented and let him in. The carpets need to be cleaned anyway.

Being a gentleman, he walked directly to my bathroom and planted himself there, as if to say, “I won’t mess up your house. You can wash this carpet.” He stayed there all night long.

Another day has gone by. He is drinking water, lapping a little broth from his canned cat food and soaking up the rays by the pool. He’s obviously more comfortable. I know he won’t live forever; he’s getting on in years. This crisis may hasten his demise. But, for now, he is my living testament that the power of Love is at our finger tips if we just learn how to channel it and allow it to flow through us.

Buddy lives on.

Insights from Reiki Master Gaetano Vivo

Today I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 3 of the Virtual Blog Tour of author Gaetano Vivo whose book Messages from the Angels of Transparency: Powerful Words from Gentle Souls launches on Amazon on Tuesday March 20, 2012.

Italian born, Gaetano Vivo is one of Europe’s most experienced and sought-after Reiki Masters, practicing in the UK, the US and Italy. He is a member of the Complementary Medical Association of Great Britain, the International Council of Holistic Therapies, the International Association of Reiki Professionals and the Noetic Association of America. From a young age he has experienced the ‘calling’ of ‘others’ who wish to pass on teachings and wisdoms in order we may make lighter work of our time here on Earth. Although, due to being brought up in a strict Catholic community, he was forced to ignore this information, he never forgot what he had received. For decades, Gaetano has been treating clients from all walks of life, regardless of faith or creed, believing that the healing power of love is open to all of us. When not touring he divides time between his homes in England and Italy and takes great delight in his garden.

Gaetano’s new book Messages from the Angels of Transparency: Powerful Words from Gentle Souls addresses the questions, “Could wise and wonderful beings contact us from beyond this world and unveil our true potential? Would knowing that we really mattered enable us to uncover the truth behind our reason for living?” This fascinating book offers answers, spiritual practices and comprehensive meditations by teacher, healer and author, Gaetano Vivo, which have the potential to strengthen, heal and transform lives and bring hope and inspiration. It also clarifies the true nature of Reiki as a simple, yet profound tool for accessing and accepting the power of universal energy—what we might call ‘love’ or ‘God’—and touches on our fundamental dilemma: Who are we and why do we exist? More than 20,000 people have already enjoyed Gaetano’s earlier offerings in both English and Italian. This book offers the reader a chance to digest messages from ‘higher beings’ for greater understanding of our own personal evolution. Anyone seeking to live a happier, better life, and has felt the desire to undertake life with greater confidence and self-worth, will relish this book.

Yesterday, Gaetano visited Kate Beddow at Growing Spirit, where they talked about his inspiration, working with your inner child and reiki.

Today, I’d like to share with you a recent interview I had with Gaetano when I got to ask him some questions on becoming a Reiki Master, multi-dimensional living and cutting cords. I hope you enjoy it.

Dana Taylor: Please share some of your personal journey to becoming a Reiki Master.

Gaetano Vivo: I became a Reiki Master many years ago, I was going through a mid-life crisis and I was looking for something that would fulfil my soul. I was living in London at the time and I went to visit the Mind, Body, Spirit exhibition; and there I found my answer.  A lady in her booth offered me a Reiki treatment, and then told me that I was a Natural Healer.  She taught me Reiki Level One that weekend and I studied with her and other Masters until, after two years of long studies and journeys inside myself, I achieved my Reiki Mastership.

I believe that it is so important to really study Reiki, especially if you want to become a Reiki Master Teacher and teach other people: a long and insightful journey to teach yourself, and eventually others, cannot last one weekend only.

Dana Taylor: At Supernal Living we discuss “multi-dimensional living.” How do you help people learn to expand their awareness and live richer lives?

Gaetano Vivo: I always say that people can be helped only if they are aware of the fact that they really want to heal deep down, they need to be prepared to work with their issues and come to terms with different dramas in their lives.  So through healing, meditation and self-transformation I accompany them through a special journey of enlightenment.

Dana Taylor: People often carry over issues from their recent past and past lives. How do they recognize these situations and how can they cut those cords?

Gaetano Vivo: I use a very powerful meditation to help people to cut the cords that bind them to past lives and especially this life time.  These cords are made of judgement, prejudice, hate and resentment and they are easily eliminated by invoking Archangel Michael. Usually people make the same mistakes over and over again and that is where we need to help them to identify these patterns, change them and transform their lives. If there are blockages in our centers, if we have acute stomach aches or migraines, those are all signs of cords made of hate and anger from other people. We ask Archangel Michael to cut all the cords that bind us from past and present lives to people who have interacted with us in the past and those whom we meet on a daily basis.

Fond Farewell to L.C. Evans

One of the more difficult aspects of living a Supernal Life, is walking the last miles with someone on their earthly journey. This past week, the writing world and her family said goodbye to Linda (L.C.) Evans.Image of L. C. Evans

Linda came into my life last April. She was the first person to post an unsolicited  review of Ever-Flowing Streams.  She said in the review “This book reached out to me,” and we soon reached out to each other. We had a lot in common, from our age group, our interest in holistic living,  to our experiences slugging it out in the world of publishing. She told me she had some sort of growth in her stomach area and was afraid to go to a doctor. I encouraged her to seek medical care. That led to a surgery and the discovery of a rare and virulent cancer.

As the months unfolded, we traded emails and talked several times. She became a daily recipient of healing energy from the Supernal Friends team. Despite the fact we had a sense that Linda was approaching her final exit point, we knew she needed constant energy for the journey. She fought the good fight. She didn’t want to leave her family, especially the grandson she was raising. Her writing was finally being recognized. We Interrupt The Date was a breakout bestseller. We Interrupt This Date There was so much more she wanted to say and do.

The last time I spoke to Linda, there were a lot of tears. Part of Supernal Living is being there to support people through the hard times, allowing them to express pain, frustration and grief. We ended the conversation with a prayer. At least I could offer that much. I hope that our prayerful vigilance helped her and the family.

Linda will be missed, which is the way it should be. Someone who gave and loved leaves a hole behind. But, they also leave a legacy. I’m sure the  encouragement Linda gave her grandson will be the gift that keeps giving. If there’s one thing I’ve discovered after saying final goodbyes to several loved ones is that a part of them remains. They not only live on in the spiritual realm, they also come back in memories time and again. Truly, love never dies.

So, farewell Linda. It was an honor to know you. Thanks for inviting me on your journey. You’ll always be a part of me.

Dana Taylor

You’ll find all of Linda’s books at  L.C. Evans Author Page. Proceeds from her books will go towards paying the many expenses that have stacked up over the past few months. You’ll enjoy her work. Books live on!

Spread the “Supernal Effect”

One of the highlights of my week is Sunday evening when I snuggle onto my cozy California King and read the LA Times. This week one of the headlines that caught my eye was “L.A. crime dip belies bad economy.” The article says that despite the predictions of pundits that the recession would result in increased crime, a downward trend of murder, rape and robbery has continued over the past several years. Experts are puzzled. The police department likes to take a lot of credit, but admit there must be more to the story. Perhaps people within the communities are simply setting new standards of behavior.

I’m sure all of those elements have played a part. However, I smiled because I think  there has also been a “Supernal Effect” taking place. What’s that, you ask? Have you ever heard of the Maharishi Effect? It goes back to the 1970’s and the whole TM movement. The idea is that if as little as 1% of a population sends positive energy to reduce crime, the rate of violence will go down. Now, there are conflicting research reports as to the validity to the hypothesis.  But, it seems like an excellent idea, doesn’t it?

Not being of the Transcendental Meditation persuasion, I like the ring of “Supernal Effect” better. This is when people individually pray for their cities and states. The collective positive energy raises the vibrations of the population. Just as illness disappears within a body when the energetic value is elevated, the lower vibrations of violence can perhaps be lifted and diffused. Of course, this is only a theory, but I believe there are many like-minded people understanding the power of the collective conscious.

I begin my mornings with prayer and meditation. I ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and pray for the people in my bundle. Then I pray for Los Angeles, because I live here. I visualize angels and a calming energy permeating the community. I attempt to send out a high vibration of love. I also send calming thoughts to the many fault lines that lie under the city and tell them to move gently. I mean, what can it hurt? If there are  other people (and I know of at least two) who are doing the same thing, then perhaps the Supernal Effect is coming into play to bring the crime rate down.

Can’t prove it, but wouldn’t it be a wonderful experiment if more people consciously prayed for their communities on a daily basis? Let’s spread the Supernal Effect

Have a lovely day–

Dana Taylor
