Here’s a meditation to turn on in the first moments of morning consciousness, still huddled under warm blankets as the last wisps of dreams drift away. This meditation offers an alternative to scrolling through anxiety-inducing early morning news. Breathe away stale energy, connect with higher energies, and set good intentions for the coming day. Open your chakras with a light frequency shower. Rise and shine into the new day!
Bright blessings,
Dana
The Rise and Shine Meditation will also be available on the Opening Chakras Meditation page.
Can prayer influence the natural world? Stories abound. The Bible shows us Jesus calming the sea in several gospels. Jesus is napping during a boat crossing while his disciples keep watch, when a sudden storm overtakes them. Fearing for their lives, the disciples awaken their master asking, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” Jesus rouses and takes control of the situation saying to the wind and sea, “Peace! Be still!” and the danger quickly abates, much to the amazement of his companions. Who is this this that even the wind and sea obey him?
As a long-time follower of Jesus, I believed him when he said followers would do his works and even greater things. I began in the realm of healing prayer and energy healing. Later, I delved into influencing the natural world, including the weather. Through the years I’ve learned how to connect with the forces of nature and have gathered more than a few anecdotes. It’s not unusual for my family and friends to call and ask for intervention.
Protection in Storms
My husband, David, once called me in the midst of a humdinger Oklahoma City hailstorm. “Do you hear that?” he asked. Indeed, from my California connection, I heard the pounding of ice on his roof. “Pray for my car! It’s out in the open in the driveway.” Staying on the phone, the two of us prayed fervently for the protection of his old jalopy. Spirit surged as I spoke my prayer language, lost in the power and emergency of the moment. At the same time, only a couple of blocks from David’s house, my friend, Helen, was dashing in her car toward the nearest shopping mall, hoping to get in the covered parking garage before her car was too damaged. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it before the power of the storm blew out her rear windshield. By the time she got to safety, she was covered in shards of glass. David’s car remained intact, without even the dimpled damaged expected from a hailstorm. In the days after the storm, he realized the amazing grace we experienced, as cars all over town drove with vinyl covers over broken windows. Windshield repairs and car rentals were in high demand that spring in OKC.
A few years ago, when I was living in Hawaii, my daughter in Missouri, Sara, called and said, “Pray for Will and Gracie right now. They are on the school bus in a terrible storm and a tree has come down in the road.” Once again, I kicked into high prayer mode. This time modern technology showed me the moving storm on my phone. Their bus was in a significant red zone. In that instance, I connected with the energy of the storm and began visualizing the area over the familiar streets. I saw Will taking care of his scared sister in the bus. As I spoke protection and dissipation of the storm, I watched in real time a horseshoe shape of calmer color push into the red zone over their area. It was a fascinating confirmation of the work I was doing.
When Fires Rage
One more story. Last summer on July 24, 2024, at about 7 PM, I sat on my couch after a long day and opened Facebook. The first post to catch my attention was from YWAM (Youth With a Mission) asking for immediate prayer for YWAM Chico, CA. A brush fire had recently broken out, raging out of control, and was headed right for the base. All staff had been quickly evacuated. My adrenaline spiked, knowing the YWAM Chico base well. Situated in a hilly canyon, the base was formerly a popular hotel, known for healing mineral baths. It now served as a major West coast base for the YWAM organization and has strong connections to my younger daughter, who is also involved in YWAM. I surrendered to an inward call from spirit to pray. The prayer became a guided vision. A still power rose within me, and I worked in partnership with unseen spiritual beings. In my mind’s eye, I saw the main buildings and the encroaching fire. We built a dome of protection over the base, an energy field woven together. After that, we began to talk to the fire, which seemed to have a presence. We directed it to go another way, down a hillside and move on around the base in its relentless consumption of fuel. After about 45 minutes of being in a spilt state of consciousness, the vision lifted. It was over. What just happened? I thought. Had it been real? A figment of an over-active imagination? As it turned out, that had been the beginning of the Park Fire that continued burning for three weeks and consumed over 95,000 acres. YWAM Chico was miraculously spared. The fire raced up to the buildings and stopped, even the resident ducks and chickens survived.
These are all examples of working with natural forces for protection in the midst of encroaching devastation. In my experience it’s possible to connect with the Gaia spirit and other elements to shield and mitigate the worst of damaging forces of nature. I recorded the following meditation as a teaching tool for people who are interested in developing their consciousness and capacity to work with the weather. Climate change is real, but so is the power and protection Divine Intervention when we learn how to connect. I encourage you to give it a try.

It’s been nearly twenty years since my first Reiki healing session which revealed a past-life connection that had darkly influenced much of my life. When Helen Nibs stood over me and said, “I think you were sacrificed in another life,” the truth of that resonated in my soul. It took about two years to fully comprehend all the implications of that past life and ultimately find a path to forgiveness that liberated and healed me.
My explorations into other expressions of myself through the Akashic Records have led to greater understanding of my relationships, interests, talents, and tendencies. The person I am now is only a fraction of my whole soul, my personal I AM.
It’s only been in recent decades that people of Western culture have had the freedom to explore the possibilities of reincarnation. Even Eastern cultures that have embraced reincarnation have perhaps been given a distorted version through their culture and religions. But now a person can research and explore the possibilities of past lives that have profound influences on the current existence. Whether it be through connecting with the Akashic Records, booking a Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) session, or some other past life regressionist, the door to self-exploration is open.
Personally, I’ve found my guides and Higher Self continually lead me to spiritual growth. This fall on a retreat in Missouri I experienced a series of visions in the meditation sessions showing me connections to an indigenous life from another time period. I understood then why that region feels so much like “home” and my deep connection to nature.
I hope that this meditation can serve as a tool to help you explore past lives and see the connections of the many expressions of your soul. Unravel your personal mysteries and open the way to healing and happiness.*

It’s that time of year to enjoy stories with a Christmas spirit of love and joy. Through the years I’ve been inspired to write several tales for the holiday season. I invite you to relax and refresh your spirit with my creative offerings. ~ Dana Taylor
My very first novel is closer to my heart with each passing year. Taking the advice, “write what you know,” I based the heroine on myself, a natural healer who runs a health food store in a small Oklahoma town. The hero, based on my husband, is a no-nonsense lawyer.
“The Healer vs. the Lawyer. Energy healer, Persephone Jones, has a new neighbor in Peeler, Oklahoma—hot shot lawyer, Jason Brooks. They meet in June; it would take a miracle to bring these two together by Christmas. She bans white sugar; he’s a chocolate cookie connoisseur. She’s about saving Mother Earth while he protects the interests of Big Business. Their attraction is mutual, but disturbing. And life gets even more complicated when the whole town is caught in a conflict that pits these two on opposite sides of a political fence.Available at Amazon
Do you believe in angels? Here are three short stories featuring angels in various guises.
“Shiny Green Shoes”—Life was hard on old Route 66 in 1935 in Luther, Oklahoma. The unlikely friendship between Mazie McDonald, a poor black child, and Peach Knight, an aging white actress, brings hope to a town down on its luck and proves dreams do come true!
“Refiner’s Fire”— Inspired by an incident from the 2008 San Diego firestorms. Flamboyant California real estate agent, Dina Stein, doesn’t care that she’s spending Hanukah alone with her dog, Angel. Better than spending it with her ungrateful daughter and son-in-law. Funny how Mother Nature can change your perspective.
“Patty’s Angels”–Los Angeles, 1960. California is becoming a state of great contrasts. Downtown LA and the suburbs are only minutes, yet worlds, apart. A little girl named Patty brings people together, with the help of her celestial best friends.
My sister-in-law, Susan, passed away this week. She was the last surviving sibling of my late husband, David. It dawned on me that of all the people who attended my wedding rehearsal dinner way-back-when, only two survive ~ my life-long supernal friend, Sue, and me. My, how the decades have flown. Life is one decision after another. Consequences lead to more necessary decisions. The life partner you choose, the food you eat, the exercise you do (or don’t do), the philosophies you adopt, all steer a course for your life journey.
I’ve come to see that living well is an art. It’s learning to make conscious decisions and considering where various consequences may lead. Living well to the last breath requires good decisions. Making a beautiful transition to the Afterlife can be artfully done.

For the last twenty-seven years Father Nathan Castle has helped over 600 souls “graduate” in heaven to higher realms. Each experience begins with a dream, usually of a violent or sudden death. Later, he meets with prayer partners and allows angels and souls to speak through him. He is part of the “heavenly discharge team.” In 2018 Father Nathan began publishing books from the notebooks he’s maintained through the years. In 2022, he started The Joyful Friar podcast to reach a wider audience. His first two books fascinated me and the third in the series is equally compelling.
Book three brings us people from around the world who have lived in many cultures before they transitioned to other dimensions. Each story is chosen with a lesson for the living. This book is different in that three of the stories involve people who did not die violently, but rather gave up on life long before their deaths. A doctor who sank into the half-existence of long illness; the wealthy woman who harbored a secret rape and cut off close relationships; a perpetually grieving young woman focused only on her loss until cancer ends her days. Father Nathan’s poignant conversations with those souls reveal people who missed out on the pleasures and opportunities that life has to offer. For those of us still on the planet, those cautionary tales show us the consequences of our actions and negative thought patterns. Fortunately, there is mercy and grace in heavenly realms to guide and heal souls. Father Nathan’s books are filled with hope and wonder.

I always have many questions after reading the Afterlife Interrupted books. And, how lucky was I to be asked to be the Guest Host for the 2nd anniversary of The Joyful Friar podcast! I was able to ask Father Nathan many of my questions. How do those dreams work? What have you learned about Guardian Angels? How do Helpers assist in “heavenly graduation?” Those questions and so many more.
I invite you to watch our 2nd Anniversary Show interview. It was an honor and joy to be a part of the celebration. Father Nathan’s work offers hope and assurance that we indeed are eternal souls, and life is what we make it, both on earth and in heaven. So, make good choices and embrace the joy of living.
