So long 2023! It was….fun. My intuition told me it was going to be a challenging year. The winter atmospheric rivers that roared through the Santa Cruz mountains made simple things like getting to the grocery store and safely home again a major accomplishment. By the end of March living on the edge of a river had gone from charming to alarming. Without solid plans, but with faith in my heavenly guides and earthly friends, I moved my belongings into storage, and lived in several locations over the ensuing months. I had many adventures along the way, with old friends and new. As I look back on the year, one of the highlights was finding my way to Spiritual Awakenings International (SAI).
SAI was founded in 2020 by Dr. Yvonne Kason and Robert Bare, two people well-known in the community of Near-Death Experiencers. (See my review of Lessons from the Light by Dr. Yvonne Kason.) They felt led to provide a global community for people who’ve experienced a variety of Spiritually Transformative Experiences (STEs). From the Spiritual Awakenings International website:
“Spiritually Transformative Experiences” is an umbrella term for a broad range of spiritual and paranormal experiencesof consciousness, that all tend to cause a spiritual awakening and gradual expansion of one’s range of consciousness. All types of STEs tend to transform experiencers’ values in a more spiritual direction and propel an increased desire to be loving, ethical, and of service to others. Dr. Kason defines Spiritually Transformative Experiences into 6 major sub-types:
Mystical experiences;
Near-Death Experiences (NDEs);
Other Death-related STEs such as: Deathbed experiences/End-of-life experiences; Death-Watch/Shared-Death experiences; and After-Death Communications;
Psychic/intuitive and out-of-body experiences of many types;
Kundalini / Spiritual Energy Awakenings

SAI sponsors monthly guest speakers and Experiencers Sharing Circles. I began watching the presentations, both live and on their SAI YouTube channel. The quality of the presentations impressed me. When they put out a call for an administrative volunteer, I felt that little intuitive nudge, “go for it.” I responded and soon found myself in training with Dr. Yvonne Kason on a weekly basis as their YouTube administrator. Getting to know Dr. Yvonne and the other SAI board members has been inspiring, energizing and just plain fun. Their individual spiritual journeys are the stuff of novels. Together they share a sense of the Awakening of humanity. So many stories, so many people having extraordinary spiritual experiences. SAI provides a global community for them to come together.
This Saturday, February 3 is the Experiencers Sharing Circle on Zoom. People from around the world show up and are divided into small groups. Each Zoom room has a trained leader. Participants can share any Spiritually Transformative Experience, usually for about five minutes, each time around within about 40 minutes. There isn’t crosstalk or counseling, but sharers find comradery and acceptance. Some people simply listen if they aren’t ready to tell their story. If you are interested in attending, register at the SAI website to receive the Zoom link on Friday. All SAI events are free with donations suggested to cover administrative costs. You can register HERE.
This weekend I’ll be joining the Sharing Circle from my two-bedroom cottage in the redwoods of Boulder Creek, CA. My wanderings ended in September when fortune smiled upon me, and I secured a house near my daughter and her tribe of five. I have friendly, helpful neighbors, should the weather cause some calamity. For moment, I am settled, snug and looking forward to the year ahead. I hope you are also.
Each morning I pray and send healing energy wherever the Spirit leads. A couple of months ago, I began receiving more detailed images of sacred geometry working with a person’s bioenergy field. Very interesting and powerful, the energy literally making me jump in my prayer chair. I knew I was supposed to develop a new meditation, but I realized I lacked the vocabulary to describe what I was seeing in my mind’s eye. Then in the course of a week, I “happened” to watch some shows that gave me some ideas to articulate the images. One especially mind-expanding show is Sacred Geometry: Spiritual Science, a Gaia Original Series, hosted by Robert J. Gilbert, Ph.D., the founder of the Vesica Institute for Holistic Studies. Gilbert is a very brainy guy and I’ll admit my intellect doesn’t always grasp his concepts, but my intuition is smarter than my mind. When I watched the shows on “torus energy,” I thought, “That’s it! That’s what I’ve been working with.”
Doing this work, I get the impression that the codes for our perfect health is information in our energetic fields. As healing energy workers, if we can access and activate these codes, the body will then begin to heal and regenerate healthy tissue. I call it Holographic Healing because what I see is like a superimposed holograph over and around the physical body and the DNA codes are always there to reproduce healthy cells. That’s my theory, anyway.
So, the day came when I felt my Spirit team and I were ready produce a Holographic Healing Meditation. The energy, the images and the words flowed. Frankly, the details of these meditations often surprise me. In this one, the listener is taken to the healing chamber of multidimensional physicians. You will hear the term Great White Brotherhood in the meditation, which refers to ascended master physicians in the Theosophy tradition. There are many benevolent spiritual entities working for the betterment of the planet. (We need all the help we can get, right?)
The Holographic Healing Meditation is now ready for anyone to experience, both at YouTube and here at Supernal Living on the HEALING MEDITATIONS page. I hope people find it healing and uplifting.
“There is more to life than meets the eye.” That’s the message Rev. Dr. Norma Edwards received for the world during her near-death experience at the age of 26. Now at age 80 she shares a lifetime of joy, pain, and spiritual wisdom in her autobiography, AWAKENING. Last month I happened to watch a Zoom presentation sponsored by a NDE group in Hawaii featuring Dr. Norma. The two hours went by quickly as she related not only her NDE, but also the insights into a life-long spiritual journey and destiny.
Born in Guyana, South America, her childhood was limited in worldly wealth, but filled with foundational influences of faith and integrity. Her father was a teacher who expected excellence in his daughter. Married by twenty, she and her husband took their infant child to London to pursue education and careers. The NDE at twenty-six fundamentally changed her, including the ability to then see auric colors of humans and music. A glimpse of her Akashic Records and several past lives took years to process. AWAKENING relates in an easy-read narrative all the milestones and miracles of her amazing life. Ultimately, she spent 27 years as a prison chaplain, teaching practical spirituality to thousands of American inmates.
Dr. Norma has risen to the level of wisdom keeper. AWAKENING is an inspiring tale for anyone interested in spiritual growth.
The latest addition to my library of meditations is entitled Opening Chakras and Activating the Merkaba. For some weeks in my morning meditations, I began seeing a human figure at the center of a vibrant ever-moving geometric pattern. I recognized the energy field as the Merkaba, (also spelled Merkabah), an ancient Hebrew word for our energetic body, a term that literally means mer (light) ka (spirit) ba (body).
Update: November 2023–Opening Chakras and Activating the Merkaba is now available on my YouTube channel and also ad-free here on the Opening Chakras Meditations page.
The Merkaba is often represented as two intersecting pyramids, base to base. Hebrew scriptures portray it as a chariot to heaven. A metaphorical understanding is the Merkaba “takes you to heaven.” Personally, I get the impression that our human earthly vehicle is powered by the Source energy perceived as the double tetrahedron Merkaba and chakra system. The YouTube metaphysical maven, Teal Swan, offers this overview of the Merkaba.
Though slow in coming, more people are beginning to see themselves as energetic life forms. Indeed, everything can be perceived in energetic patterns. One of the newest series on GAIA TV is Sacred Geometry: Spiritual Science with Robert J. Gilbert, founder of the Vesica Institute Holistic Studies of Biogeometry. The show takes a deep dive into the study of the human energy fields. Gilbert is one of a growing number of scientists and scholars bringing together ancient symbols and modern technology to further understand the human experience.
The Opening Chakras and Activating the Merkaba Meditation is a tool to help you “turn on your lights.” Activating your personal energy grid raises your frequency, which can have a beneficial effect on your health, mood, relationships and connection to the divine. I hope you enjoy it.
A few weeks ago my sleep was disturbed by annoying, bizarre dreams. One night I sat up about three a.m. and realized I was being psychically assaulted by mischievous entities. It wasn’t surprising as I’m currently involved in the founding of YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Santa Cruz. My daughter and son-in-law have heeded the spiritual call to the area to head up a YWAM base. While many doors have opened up to bring the shining light of YWAM ministry to the area, it has also stirred up established negative entities that have set up residence here for many years. Drug addiction, among other soul-sucking problems, are rife in Santa Cruz, despite the beautiful surrounding mountainous scenery. As the first class of YWAM Santa Cruz launched in early April, we noticed an array of obstacles and annoying distractions occurring on the campus with the staff.
That particular night at 3 a.m., I recognized the outside source of my dreams. While I’m not much on doing “spiritual battle,” as I believe that simply invites more “battle,” I do believe in taking spiritual authority. Creating a sacred space that is simply too high in frequency for lower entities and filled with heavenly hosts is more my style. That night in bed, I called on my spiritual guides and protectors to shield me from unwanted psychic assault. I told whatever was bothering me to please go toward the light and be released in love. My turbulent dreams disappeared.
Interestingly, I was soon led to a zoom class from the Theosophical Society led by Kurt Leland on creating sacred spaces. His lecture was very enlightening and thought provoking. Most people never think about the conflicting entities swirling around them. Consequently, their defenses are down and lower entities can just move right in, feeding on the energy of their unwitting hosts.
This experience inspired me to record a meditation to create a sacred sleeping space in both the physical and spiritual realms. Sleep should be a time of deep mental rest and bodily rejuvenation. Sadly, a good night’s sleep is rare in today’s world.
I’m happy to report that I’m sleeping much better. Each night I take conscious authority over my sleep cycle, plus I have followed the instructions from the Kurt Leland class to make my bedroom a high frequency sacred space.
I encourage you to explore the methods of creating your own sacred space. I hope this meditation will serve as a useful tool to enjoy the deep sleep you need to function at your highest potential and live your best life.
Crash! The unmistakable sound of breaking glass grabbed my attention as I wiped down the elegant kitchen marble counter tops that October day last fall. I turned around in time to see our five-month-old Bengal kitten, Shadow, high tail out of the living room and disappear up the second story stairs to her hide out. Drat that cat! Of course I quickly blamed myself for not removing the beautiful blue and gold scalloped vase from the mantle in the first place. She was growing everyday, leaping and exploring her new home. I sheepishly dreaded having to tell my housemate and home owner, Connie, that her lovely vase now lay in smithereens across the shiny hardwood floor because of my carelessness. Of course, I could put that off, as Connie was currently on vacation in Italy, far away from this house on the hills of San Jose, CA.
Shadow
Frankly, at the time of the vase break, I was a bit miffed at my spirit guides for not telling me to remove it. It had crossed my mind and yet I had not taken that simple precaution and saved the vase. I’m an intuitive, sensing guides and angels ever around me, helping me navigate the daily functions of life. I rely on their guidance for everything from parking spots to knowing the exact day to place a Craigslist ad in the San Jose area for a place to stay in the middle of a pandemic. Connie just “happened” to browse the listings checking out kitten postings. She got me that day instead of a cat. It would be several months before Shadow joined the household. People remark on my “magical” life. At the moment of the crashing glass, it seemed the guides had let me down.
As it turned out, allowing the vase to break, may have saved my life.
Two nights later, I had finished dinner, cleaned the kitchen and headed up to my room. Being alone in the house, I had turned off all the downstairs lights. My room faced the street and was the only lighted area. By 9 pm I had changed to pj’s and set up my I-pad in the landing at the top of stairs in front of my bedroom doing some yoga. I had turned off the bright overhead lights, preferring the softer light through my bedroom door. Suddenly, my Boho Beautiful routine of stretches and zen poses was rudely interrupted by the sound of breaking glass from downstairs.
What is that cat doing now?, I thought. Cascades of breaking glass kept falling and falling. Good grief. Has that cat toppled the television? Is she running amuck sending artwork flying across the living room? Infuriated, I headed toward the stairs. Just as I reached the first step, the figure of a man rounded the dark corner, about to mount the stairs.
Without forethought, I assumed an Incredible Hulk stance and bellowed, “GET OUT!!” followed by deep growls. Truly, I sounded positively demonic. Guttural roars continued even after he had turned around and dashed away like the proverbial bat out of hell. I only quieted after I heard a car tear off down the street.
I stood at the top of stairs, blinking. Did that just happen? Have I just scared away a burglar? To say “something came over me,” is an understatement. In that moment when I saw that guy, I felt big and powerful. Like I could Kick His Ass.
The rest of the evening unfurled with efficient aid and protection. I’d recently gotten the phone number of a helpful neighbor, Mike. He answered my call immediately. When I said there had been a break-in, he replied, “I’ll be there in five minutes.”
Mike helped me deal with the police I’d called and then he boarded up the gaping hole in the French door. Mike is a real stand-up guy.
Mike
I also had a key to the unoccupied house of my daughter’s in-law’s home a mile away, so I didn’t have to sleep in the invaded house again. Looking back, I can see Grace and Provision every step along the way of the whole episode.
I think back on that experience with wonder. All in all, it was empowering to know I won’t fall apart in a crisis. My guides and angels totally came through. One theory about such things is that certain events have high probabilities in The Field as they get closer in time. The breaking vase two days earlier planted an assumption of a mischievous cat in my mind, not a scary home invading robber.
Had my guides seen the potential break-in and allowed, or even encouraged, the cat to break the vase and thus, set up my mindset? And who or what came through me as I took command at the top of the stairs?
You might be wondering if the police found the culprits. Maybe. The thieves’ activities in the neighborhood were captured on several security cameras and pieced together, which included reading a license plate from the car. I’m hoping maybe I scared the would-be burglar away from a life of crime. One can always hope.
Inany case, I am grateful to my spiritual team for their guidance and support. And I’m especially grateful to that naughty catfor breaking the vase.
