The Healing Light Meditation

by Dana Taylor

Middle of the night stillness made me feel alone in the universe that night of 1982. I sat in my Oklahoma City living room rocking my fretful five-month-old baby, Cary, through another night of ear infection restlessness. We were caught in a cycle, rounds of antibiotic pink medicine. Seemingly better, then flared up infection again. Cary and I were both very weary of her illness.

I’d recently joined a healing prayer group at my church, a whole new concept to someone pretty much attending church to make friends rather than following religious fervor. Agnes Sanford’s classic book, The Healing Light, had been on the recommended reading list. Dealing with a chronically sick baby is incentive for reading about healing and anything to solve the problem. So, I dove into The Healing Light.

Agnes Sanford was a major figure of the Christian Charismatic movement of the middle 20th century. Raised in China by missionary parents, she picked up Eastern ideas of spiritual forces. Later, as the wife of an Episcopal minister, she witnessed the power of healing prayer. Her blended ideas, observations, and experiences became the basis of The Healing Light.

Sanford contended that healing energy is available to everyone. People simply have to learn how to turn it on. She likened it to a light bulb. If the bulb is in its socket, a power source needs to be flipped on to make it shine. Begging and wishing doesn’t turn it on. You can plead, “Please, bulb, please turn on.” Nothing will happen. But, connected to its energy source, the light beams.

She described the Healing Light and how to “turn it on.” It was on that dark night, long ago, I first connected with the Healing Light. As I rocked Cary in the dim living room, I imagined a shaft of divine energy opening up over my head. I prayed for help. I prayed for connection. My hands cupped over her ears and I imagined light rippling from the heavens, into my head and down my arms. The chair rocked and rocked and rocked. My head warmed and buzzed. Energy traveled through my body. That night only my right hand warmed and pulsed. Waves of energy rose in a crescendo and slowly faded. The baby fell limp in my arms and finally surrendered to sleep. I continued rocking a while, knowing something profound had just happened.

Indeed, the next visit to the pediatrician revealed her right ear was completely healed, the left improved. The cycle of infections was over.

That was the beginning of life-long supernal adventures in healing energy. Many modalities have followed, including Reiki and The Reconnection. But, it was Agnes Sanford and The Healing Light that formed the foundation of my life in healing.

The Healing Light Meditation is my latest offering on YouTube to put others in touch with healing energy for themselves. Turn on the light and shine!

Bright Blessings,

Dana

Transcend Cancer

by Dana Taylor

Cancer. Such a frightening word. It conjures up dreadful images of weakened, ravaged friends and relatives. Bald children from St. Jude’s Children Hospital commercials. People who thought they had it licked, only to discover a lurking inoperable tumor.

After an initial cancer diagnosis, there is talk of “killing it,” “curing it,” “fighting it.” Some people simply give up and yield to it.

As a healer and Reiki practitioner, I’ve been on the front lines with cancer patients. Interestingly, thinking back, most of them are still alive. Cancer was part of their journey. They have dealt with it and moved on. It may return, but, for now, those people are living busy lives.

Lately, I find myself engaged with some new people dealing with cancer. As I’ve been praying and listening for guidance, a recurring Word has come to me ~~ Transcend.

In my world of vibrational and energy healing, illness and disease are mainly about frequencies and energy blockages. Cancer is a frequency zone. Damaged, sick cells reproduce and overtake healthy cells. As a Reiki energy healer, I help people raise their vibration and transcend the cancer zone through Reiki treatments.

I encourage people to become pro-active and holistic in their approach to becoming healthier. Following a medical protocol is only one aspect of sailing out of the doldrums of cancer. If you’re dealing with cancer, here are some ideas to consider as you adjust to your new health status.

Move Out of the Cancer Zone

Fun over Fear ~

The Law of Attraction teaches that whatever we concentrate on increases in our lives. Consequently, the more a person is engulfed by fear of cancer and all its ramifications, the more cancer is encouraged to grow. Frankly, thinking about cancer all the time is boring. It’s a real downer.

Don’t let cancer define you.

It takes mental discipline to distract your mind from a constant drumbeat of cancer, but it can be done. Find ideas and activities that are uplifting and engaging. Affirmations, meditations, good music, good times, whatever raises your mood is part of transcending cancer.

Fabulous Food ~

Food has become source of fear with cancer. Blaming the hot dogs, GMO’s, and chemicals prevalent in our food can make us choke on every bite. Some people become obsessed with eating organic for fear of ingesting carcinogens. While I think diet and polluted water probably is linked to the rise in cancer rates, it isn’t healing to excessively worry about it.

Make good food choices–primarily live, fresh food. Understand food from an energetic standpoint. It isn’t simply calories, it can be an infusion of energy. I’m a big fan of smoothies. By liquefying fresh fruits and vegetables, you are ingesting live enzymes and whole food nutrition. Adding a blessing of grateful intention augments the natural energy of the food. The lessons from Dr. Emoto’s Hidden Messages in Water illustrate how molecules can be transformed by healing intention.

Power up your food and water with healing energy through prayer and also choose from an array of water bottles now available for energizing drinking water.

Forgive and Forget About It

Cancer is often a metaphor for unforgiveness and guilt. Is there something that really “eats you up”? Is there an issue you need to “get off your chest?” Are events in your life “a real pain in the butt?” Life has a way of dishing up betrayal, abuse, neglect, and regret. Simply ignoring or burying negative emotions pulls you down into the Cancer Zone. Living in an unhealthy emotional zone can manifest into sick, unhealthy cells.  Cancer can be sending you a message.

Anita Moorjani’s autobiography, Dying To Be Me, eloquently describes the emotional connections to disease. The cancer journey can be very liberating of old patterns and grudges. Exploring the emotional trail that may have led to illness can actually be part of the Road to Healing.

Vibrational Healing ~

After my mother died from her long cancer experience in 1988, I determined to seek a different path of living. I prayed for guidance. My intuition led me to the blossoming field of alternative medicine. Chinese medicine, Eastern philosophies, homeopathy, flower remedies, essential oils, quantum physics, energy healing–it’s been quite an education. Ultimately, all these things come down to energy. What’s one of the first signs of illness? Fatigue. We sense our energy is being lowered by an invasion or imbalance of some kind.Vibrational healing focuses on raising the vibrational frequency at the cellular level. It can be approached in many ways.

For instance, my enthusiasm for essential oils is primarily derived from the understanding that they are extremely high energetically. Yes, they have components that kill germs, but it’s the infusion of energy from essential oils that is, in my opinion, their greatest healing property. The following chart compares the energetic measurement in various foods to essential oils. Working essentials oils into your daily routine is a fast and easy way to lift your frequency.

I

Processed Foods 0 Hz

I

Fresh Produce up to 15 Hz

I

Dry Herbs 20-22 Hz

I

Fresh herbs 20-27 Hz

V

Essential Oils 52-320 Hz

Eastern cultures have long recognized our energetic source. India calls it Prana. Chinese speak of the Chi. “Reiki” is a Japanese word for God’s Light or God’s Energy. Many healing modalities have an energetic foundation. The best known may be acupuncture which focuses on energetic pathways, called meridians, of the body. Keeping the meridians flowing freely promotes good health.

Modern science is meeting ancient modalities to produce exciting frequency raising machines and products. VibesUp is an intriguing company using the power of crystal earth energy in a wide array of items. Vibrational medicine machines such as Trinfinity8 are utilizing energy frequencies for healing. Truly, it’s the new frontier of medicine. How wonderful it would be to see the end of toxic drugs and radiation for cancer treatment.

At any rate, thinking energetically about wellness is a paradigm shift. Begin noticing if something raises you up, or drags you down.

  • Live food vs. processed food. The life in uncooked food raises your energetic level. Processed food extracts extra energy to digest.
  • Meditation, classical music, and nature walks don’t simply raise your spirits, they raise your frequency.
  • Avoid toxic people, places and things that bring you down. The energy loss has a significant physical impact.

Embrace Living ~

Finally, realize that every day you wake up you are LIVING. Despite a negative diagnosis, as long as you are breathing and getting around town, celebrate Life. There may be a day when you slip into a true “dying” mode and that can be beautiful also. Don’t rush it.

Write up that Bucket List and start checking things off. Set some goals and work towards them. Spend time with people you love and enjoy.

Transcend

I will lift up mine eyes to the hills, from whence my help cometh. Psalm 121 KJV

Chakra Therapy for Cancer

Many thanks to Richard Alpert who provided most of the information in this article. He also alerted me to a helpful website for people dealing with mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Visit Mesothelioma.net for more information.

Along with traditional treatments, many cancer patients are turning to alternative, holistic forms of medicine. The combination has shown great success. Natural chakra healing is a type of energy therapy that can be used to complement other treatment options. Chakras are energy hubs that power and organize the physical body. These energy currents within the body are affected by the way we interact with the world. They help create and maintain health and balance in your body. The goal is to keep these energy chakras open and flowing. When an imbalance or blockage occurs, this interferes with harmonious energy levels causing the body to experience pain and disease. Restoring the balance helps promote physical and mental well-being.

What is Chakra Healing?

Naturopathy encompasses several forms of treatment. Each type of therapy is designed to heal and cleanse the body’s various chakras. There are seven main energy centers, or chakras, in the body. Cancer often manifests closest to the most imbalanced chakra. An article published in the European Journal of Cancer demonstrated a correlation between emotional stress and the suppression of the immune system. Emotional stress can also cause an increase in the pain and fatigue associated with mesothelioma and other forms of cancer. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, energy therapy is a palliative form of treatment that can enhance calmness, which helps balance the mind and body.

Energy Therapy with Crystals and Reiki

A cancer patient undergoes therapy to release the harmful effects of negative energy, open up pathways and restore balance. The healing crystals are uniquely colored stones containing various energy vibrations that help promote wellness in diseased areas of the body. While rose quartz stones enhance energy in the chest and lung area, smoky quartz stones help detoxify the body after cancer treatment like radiation and chemotherapy. Amethyst is used to promote mental and emotional healing. Citrine and sunstone help boost energy levels so that the body can recover more quickly from a cancer treatment.

Reiki energy healing is highly complimentary to patients undergoing cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy. While those treatments may help eradicate cancer cells, they also weaken immune system response and generally deplete the patient’s basic energy level. Reiki infuses the cancer patient with healing energy frequencies. Patients report faster recovery levels, better sleep, and a general overall feeling of wellness.

Naturopathy may also include massage, music and aromatherapy. A massage helps lessen stress and boosts the immune system. Music has been shown to promote relaxation, relieve anxiety and boost cleansing chakras. The sound can be tailored to meet a specific diagnosis and personal preferences. According to the American Cancer Society, music therapy has demonstrated the ability to reduce nausea after chemotherapy and improve blood pressure, calm breathing and ease depression. Various essential oils can be applied during a massage, taken as a dietary supplement or used during aromatherapy. The goal is to help the body’s self-healing process fight off cancer and negate the emotional stresses that can aggravate the disease. It also opens up channels so that traditional cancer treatment options can be more effective.

Every ailment, including cancer, affects each person in a different manner. Numerous studies and years of clinical research have shown the potential benefits of alternative medicine treatments. Alone or in conjunction with traditional medical protocols, naturopathy targets the underlying cause of disease and reverses the negative effects of the condition.

Take Charge of Your Health

A cancer diagnosis is frightening, but it can also be a wake-up call. By reminding us of our own mortality,  it makes us examine our life choices and priorities. Cancer is a holistic disease–it affects mind, body, and spirit. Dealing with it in a holistic manner can be very empowering and life changing. Be pro-active in your therapy choices, seek spiritual and emotional wellness, treasure the gift of each new day.

Aboriginal Healing Secrets Revealed

Book Reviews by Dana Taylor

Gary Holz, D.Sc. (1950-2007), was an award-winning physicist and a psycho-neuro-immunologist. In 1994, confined to a wheelchair with multiple sclerosis, he went to Australia to stay with an Aboriginal tribe and experienced miraculous healing. Robbie Holz is a holistic health consultant dedicated to continuing the healing work of her late husband. She healed herself of hepatitis C and has also worked with Aboriginal healers in Australia.

I first became aware of Robbie Holz through an interview on the Open Minds show on Gaia TV. Ms. Holz spoke about her life with healer, Gary Holz, and the incredible journey they had both experienced with debilitating diseases. Intrigued by her interview, I purchased both books, Secrets of Aboriginal Healing: A Physicist’s Journey with a Remote Australian Tribe and Aboriginal Secrets of Awakening.

secretsThe first book, Secrets of Aboriginal Healing, is Gary’s story. His life as a scientist and successful businessman came to what appeared to be a tragic end when he developed multiple sclerosis. From the description:

In 1983 award-winning physicist Gary Holz was diagnosed with chronic progressive multiple sclerosis. By 1988 he was a quadriplegic. Then, in 1994, his doctors told him he had two years to live. Desperate and depressed, he followed a synchronistic suggestion and went to Australia to live with a remote Aboriginal tribe. Arriving in a wheelchair, alone, with almost no feeling left from the neck down, Holz embarked on a remarkable healing transformation of body, mind, and spirit and discovered his own gift for healing others.

Written at the request of the Aboriginal healers Holz worked with, this book reveals the beliefs and principles of the 60,000-year-old healing system of the Aborigines of Australia, the world’s oldest continuous culture. Chronicling the step-by-step process that led to his miraculous recovery, he explains the role played by thought in the creation of health or disease and details the five essential steps in the Aboriginal healing process. He explores the use of dreamtime, spirit guides, and telepathy to discover and reprogram the subconscious motivations behind illness–a process that enacts healing at the cellular and the soul level, where the root of physical illness is found.

As I read Gary’s story, I wanted to pass it on to people I know dealing with chronic illness who don’t understand the connection between buried emotions, unforgiveness, and disease. Gary had to travel all the way to the Outback of Australia to recognize what had been hiding in his heart.

secretsawakeningAboriginal Secrets of Awakening is Robbie’s story. The title is a little misleading because the book is largely about her healing from hepatitis C and her love story with Gary. She does make a trip to Australia meeting with Indigenous healers, but that isn’t the heart of the story. Meeting Gary, loving Gary, losing Gary, carrying on for Gary is the essence of the book. While it doesn’t have the revelations of the first book, it still “tells the rest of the story.” It’s a testimony to healing and love.

Both of these books offer insights on healing that are rarely, if ever, discussed in a doctor’s office. They point the way to overcoming despair and powerlessness given a devastating diagnosis. Healing is a process of mind, body, and spirit.

If you or someone you know is dealing with a “hopeless” situation, offer these books. They may be the spark of light out of the darkness.     garyholz         Robbie Holz      Gary and Robbie Holz

New Documentary Shines Light on Medical Alternatives

13051563_1688369204747659_2828516897045729422_n a review by Dana Taylor

Filmmaker Jeff Hays takes on the status quo via the medium of documentaries. In Bought he revealed the unholy alliance between big government, big pharma, and big agra. His latest film, Breakthroughs, (free to view online through May 3) shines a light on seven different alternative health care providers. Rather than beating an anti-establishment drum, Breakthroughs gives seven examples of people who searched for health, often personally or for their families, and then went on to share what they found with the world.

Filmmaker Jeff Hayes

Filmmaker Jeff Hays

The personal stories are varied and interesting–a wild salmon fisherman, a genetic nutritionist cancer survivor, an athletic specialist chiropractor, a skin specialist speaking of “skinflammation,” and more. The emphasis is often on nutrition, departing from toxic chemicals, and lifestyle changes.

The most interesting segment to me focused on Dr. Jason West, DC NMD FIAMA DABCN. Dr. West is a fourth generation chiropractor practicing in Pochatella, Idaho. Building on his family’s foundation, he has broadened his clinic into an all-encompassing comprehensive medical facility. He offers what ideally could be the doctor office of the future. Patients develop a team of physicians tailor made for their particular situation. People often find Dr. West after years of ineffective medical treatment. His staff includes an MD and a variety of alternative medicine experts in nutrition, blood chemistry, clinical nutrition, medical microscopy, herbal, homeopathic, intravenous micronutrient therapy and chelation therapy.

Breakthroughs offers a glimpse of out-of-the-box thinking. In a society so engulfed by a drugs-cure-everything mentality, this film presents people pursuing good health through other methods. Much of it comes down to common sense–eat right, exercise, sleep well. Yet, in our fast food society the simplest lifestyle changes could be precisely the breakthrough many people are missing. Though the film ignores any spiritual, mind body connections, it still offers valuable information for seekers of a happier, healthier life.

If you know someone caught in a cycle of chronic disease and confusion, Breakthroughs might give them a spark of encouragement to seek new directions for health and a sense of personal empowerment.

Ancient Chinese Wisdom for Modern Health

by Dana Taylor
th-5People sometimes ask me how I stay so “young,” what is my “secret?” Of course, that’s a loaded question with a complicated answer, but one key element of enjoying good health heading into my sixth decade is simple: Sunrider Chinese Herbs.

After I watched my mother and grandmother be whittled away by cancer and the Western medicine treatments of chemo and radiation, I knew I had to do something differently or I would surely follow their path. Sunrider‘s whole food supplements of Quinary capsules, Calli Tea, and NuPlus shakes, have been the foundation of my nutrition since 1990. I am living proof of the Sunrider difference.

SR-NBC-Quinary

Here is an excerpt from my book introducing the philosophy that makes Sunrider different from most supplements:

Ever-Flowing Streams: Tapping Into Healing Energy

Tapping400Chapter 3

Alternative Medicine

Excerpt:

Regeneration vs. Substitution

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear—so goes the ancient Buddhist proverb.  In my case, my teachers appeared via a multi-level marketing company selling Chinese herbs. While I never made a heap of money, I did make some great friends and associates.

A Chinese chemist and an entrepreneurial American formed a partnership to bring Eastern concepts about nutrition to the United States. They developed a line of herbal products and started teaching Americans what they called the Philosophy of Regeneration.  They identified the West as a society living by the Philosophy of Substitution.

Regeneration vs. Substitution is really East versus West in health ideology. Regeneration is a belief that the human body has healing powers that simply need to be nurtured. The heart of the word is “gene”–the genetic capability to heal.

Substitution represents the Western idea of having drugs doing the job of the body—i.e. relying on antibiotics instead of natural antibodies. Certainly, “miracle” drugs have saved thousands of lives. But, the pendulum has perhaps swung too far in favor of powerful drugs that override the body’s innate healing abilities.

I’ll refrain from launching into a tirade against the profit-driven evils of the drug industry, except to say that ideally drugs should be used sparingly and only for short periods of time. Every prescription drug has negative side effects that make the body weak and out of balance. That’s one reason they are controlled substances—they are dangerous. They substitute a chemical function the body should be doing for itself.

The human body is a marvelous creation that will move toward wellness given the proper balance of nutrients, clean water, sunshine and positive emotion. The Creator embedded the directions for excellent health in the DNA of every cell of our beings. We simply need to nurture those cells.

Regeneration represents the idea of balance and nurture through the second leg of the philosophy—Whole Food Nutrition.

Whole Food Nutrition vs. Isolate Supplements

In the mid-twentieth century, Nobel Prize winning scientist Linus Pauling started an isolate bandwagon rolling when he claimed miraculous benefits of vitamin C. Molecular biologists and chemists jumped on board, providing pills loaded with vitamin and mineral isolates. Soon thousands of American children chewed their yummy Flintstones vitamins; adults dutifully swallowed their trusty One-A-Day’s.

Despite the fact that many of Pauling’s initial assertions were largely disputed in clinical trials, vitamin megadosing became a popular trend for health-seeking Westerners.

The problem is much of these isolated nutrients are literally flushed down the toilet.  Have you ever noticed how bright yellow your urine is about an hour after you take a vitamin supplement?  That’s the dissolved pill leaving your body unabsorbed.  The reason?  Your body did not recognize or utilize the nutrients.

Why? They were not delivered in the form of food.

Let’s go back to some ancient wisdom: the human body was made by God; God made plants and seeds for human consumption. It says so right off the bat in the Bible:

God created man in his own image…male and female he created them…And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.” Genesis 1:27-30

The Creator produced food of uniquely bonded nutrients.  That same Creator designed our bodies to recognize and utilize food in form he made it. (end of excerpt)
